Germany (독일)

유럽의 중앙부에 위치한 독일연방공화국(Bundesrepublik Deutschland).

면적은 35만 7022㎢이고, 인구는 약 8,378만명이며, 수도는 베를린이다. 

 

인구의 대부분은 게르만족이고, 유태인·슬라브인·위그노인 등의 소수민족이 있다. 언어는 고지독일어(高地獨逸語)와 저지독일어(低地獨逸語) 중 일반적으로 고지독일어를 표준어로 삼고 있으며, 16세기에 루터의 성서번역에 의해 신고지독일어(新高地獨逸語)가 확립되어 방언의 차이가 많이 줄었다.

 

종교는 신교와 구교가 주류를 이루고 있는데, 신교는 주로 북부와 동부에 분포하여 전체 인구의 약 51％가 믿고 있으며, 구교는 주로 남부와 서부에 분포하여 전체 인구의 약 48％가 믿고 있다. 기후는 서유럽의 해양성 기후와 동유럽의 대륙성 기후의 중간형이다.
